Abstract |
Background. The purpose of this article is to study existing economic models and theories of the region. The object of the study is the economic region. Purposeful management of favorable and productive territories has always been of paramount importance for human producers, starting from the earliest forms of economic activity. A scientific approach to solving this problem is today presented in research in many branches of knowledge, incl. economics, political science, history, sociology, cultural studies, etc. At the same time, despite the critical importance of the concept of "region", it still does not have a unified interpretation, even within one science. Materials and methods. The article uses historical and abstract-logical methods, on the basis of which it is proposed to classify models and theories of the region into three groups: pre-scientific teachings, post-activity theories and projective theories. Results. These groups are assessed in terms of, firstly, their ability to increase farm productivity and, secondly, their suitability for scaling to other territories. In our opinion, it is these two parameters that make it possible to determine the adequacy of a particular theory. Conclusions. It is stated that pre-scientific teachings contain a set of algorithms derived experimentally; post-activity theories belatedly followed changes in the technosphere and made attempts to model them; projective theories for the first time demonstrated a practically successful example of proactive regional management. |
